The Story Behind Mad Hatter Vintage

Hi y’all! Thanks for stopping by our blog! There are so many things we want to tell you about our adventure into vintage rentals, but for now, we’ll start with how it all began! For our own vintage style wedding in Charlottesville in 2013, we scoured thrift shops, antique stores, flea markets, estate sales and just about everywhere in between for mismatched vintage china. During our hunt for china, we found a beautiful pink couch (now affectionately known as the Janine Pink Settee) for our lounge area. It was important to us that our guests had an extraordinary, unforgettable experience full of the special details we put our heart and soul into collecting for the event. We both loved how vintage and antique pieces each tell a special story and we wanted them to be a part of our story together. It all started with vintage china and a pink couch. The rest is history!

Many people ask us if this is something we had planned on doing as a career and personal business. Eric is a financial advisor and I have a masters in health administration; so we couldn’t have been further from this type of business! After 10 years leading nursing homes, I simply got burnt out and was ready to pursue a more creative passion. Eric is my cheerleader, thrift store partner, adventurer, bargain hunter, handyman, professional mover and accountant- all rolled into one! We have a son, Peyton, who loves to help mommy with projects and you may even see him helping style an event!

We’re so excited you’re joining us on this adventure and we can’t wait to find the perfect pieces to make your next event extraordinary!
